How To Be a True Ally
My Five Learnings!
It might not be easy to call out a boss/best friend/priest/stranger/mother-in-law/etc., but to be an ally, it means taking on the emotional labour of conducting uncomfortable conversations to understanding us, systems of oppression and when we are perpetuating those unjust ideals.
But how can you be one? A true Ally!
Do take ally-like actions
Do lead through asking questions
Be ready to listen
Speak up as an advocate and evangelize your allyship among others.
Have you gone beyond "performing allyship" for others/for social media/to mediate your own guilt?
PS: Has someone ever been an ally to you, or do you have a story about the moment you became an ally? Share with us and don’t forget to take the screenshot of the episode and tag @trendingdiary onInstagram and also your ally!
We will happy to reshare it with our community!
